Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 13, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Mafia Online ("we," "our," or "us"), operated at letsplaymafia.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our online Mafia game service (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Display Name: The name you enter when creating or joining a game. This is not linked to any account and is only used during the game session.
  • Feedback: If you submit feedback through our in-game feedback form, we collect the text you provide along with basic game context (room code, player count).
  • Supporter Codes: If you activate a supporter code, we store the code locally on your device to maintain your supporter status.
  • Mini-game Leaderboard Scores: When you submit a score in the Other Games hub, we store the display name you chose (up to 20 characters), the score, the game played, and a salted hash of your IP address used solely for rate-limiting submissions. We never display or share your IP. You can choose not to submit a score by canceling the prompt — the game still counts locally on your device.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Analytics Data: We collect anonymous usage data including page views, session duration, device type (mobile/desktop), browser type, and general geographic region. This data is aggregated and not linked to individual identities.
  • IP Address: We temporarily process your IP address for analytics and rate limiting purposes. IP addresses are used to count unique visitors and are not stored long-term in a personally identifiable way.
  • Game Activity: We record general game events (games played, roles assigned, game outcomes) for analytics purposes. This data is aggregated and anonymous.
  • Local Storage: We use browser local storage to save your preferences (theme, sound settings), game session data, and player statistics. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the game service
  • To enable real-time multiplayer gameplay via WebSocket connections
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve the game experience
  • To monitor for abuse, cheating, and ensure fair play
  • To respond to feedback and bug reports
  • To display relevant advertisements through Google AdSense

4. Third-Party Services

Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies and web beacons to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.

OpenAI

Our AI bot feature uses the OpenAI API to generate bot behavior and chat messages. Game context (player names, game state) is sent to OpenAI to generate appropriate responses. OpenAI's data usage policies apply to this data. No personal user information beyond display names is shared.

Amazon Web Services

Feedback submissions are stored securely on Amazon S3. Our game servers run on AWS Lightsail.

Stripe

Premium Pass payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. When you purchase a Premium Pass, you are redirected to Stripe-hosted Checkout. Stripe collects and processes your payment information, email, and billing details according to Stripe's privacy policy. We do not see, store, or process your card details directly — we only receive a transaction confirmation and use it to generate your premium code.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal cookies and tracking. Our analytics system uses a session-based approach with anonymous session IDs stored in your browser's local storage. Third-party services (Google AdSense) may set their own cookies for ad personalization. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

6. Data Retention

Analytics data is retained for up to 90 days for operational purposes. Game session data (room states, chat messages) is ephemeral and is automatically deleted when a game room is cleaned up (typically within 1 hour of game completion). Feedback submissions are retained indefinitely to help improve the service. Local storage data on your device persists until you clear your browser data.

7. Children's Privacy

Mafia Online is intended for players of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The game does not require account creation or personal details beyond a temporary display name. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, rate limiting on API endpoints, and secure server configurations. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights

Since we collect minimal personal data and do not require accounts, most traditional data rights (access, deletion, portability) are handled automatically:

  • Your game data is ephemeral and automatically deleted
  • Local storage data can be cleared through your browser settings
  • You can opt out of personalized ads through Google's settings
  • You can disable cookies through your browser preferences

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please visit our support page, use the in-game feedback form, or email us at tejas03usa@gmail.com.
